Production problems necessitated significant modifications to an existing FCC unit. The project required that the FCC reactor and regenerator be cut and reoriented for more-efficient operation. Current existing condition documentation was inaccurate, incomplete, missing or non-existent.
The facility lacked accurate and current existing condition documentation. The goal was to select a work process that provided a highly accurate detailed 3D model in a fraction of the time required by traditional surveying techniques.
The client selected Quantapoint to digitize and generate the 3D data needed to execute the project. Quantapoint’s 3D data was used to support preliminary and detailed engineering design. Solution
A few unique aspects about Quantapoint’s contributions to this project included the following:
- Helped ensure the project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget by providing an accurate 3D Model. (took a fraction of the time to complete vs. traditional survey)
- Quantapoint digitized multiple levels of the FCC and regenerator units. Images were generated from at-grade locations to top of unit elevations.
- Data generated was shared by multiple offices located in CA, TX and Calgary, Alberta
