Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) = and the=20 Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation = (NNPC)=20 are partners for the Escravos Gas = Project Phase=20 3A (EGP3A).  EGP3A is driven by a = Nigerian=20 government mandate requiring all = oil=20 producing companies to stop flaring = natural gas=20 with the goal of capturing, processing, = and=20 optimizing gas resources.  This = involved=20 modifications and tie-ins to support two = new gas=20 gathering and compression platforms and=20 wellheads.  Unfortunately, = the piping and structural design = were=20 completed in Bentley AutoPLANT without = accurate=20 existing condition documentation. =20 Quantapoint re-engineered=20 the designs to ensure they were = interference=20 free, creating 3D laser=20 models to provide an interactive 3D = view of=20 the platform using Quantapoint=92s PRISM 3D = software.  The=20 original Bentley AutoPLANT design models = were=20 imported into PRISM 3D and clashed = against=20 the 3D laser models.  A number of = design=20 errors and clashes were identified on = both=20 platforms.  Even=20 greater benefits could have been = achieved had=20 Quantapoint digitized the platforms = prior to=20 designs being created in 3D CAD and = verified the=20 tie points.
