QuantaCAD - Put Reality into Your Design Software (Laser Scan Data in AutoCAD, AutoPlant, MicroStation, PDMS, PDS, SmartPlant)

QuantaCAD provides access to a photo-realistic and high-definition Digitized Facility™ in team member design software to access more complete information for design, reducing remodeling time, field trips, design time and design clashes.

Put Reality into Your Design Software using QuantaCAD
QuantaCAD™ - winner of an R&D Magazine award for innovation - puts reality into your design software by enabling facilities digitized using laser scanning to be accessed as high-definition Laser Models™ and photo-realistic Laser Images™ within various commercial packages, such as AutoCAD, AutoPlant, MicroStation, PDMS, PDS and SmartPlant Review. By accessing the Digitized Facility in design software using QuantaCAD, Quantapoint clients have been able to decrease field trips by 85%, remodeling time by 90%, design time by 60% and design clashes by 85%.

Detailed Laser Models for More Complete Designs
Laser Model of a Facility in PRISM 3D - More Complete Information for Design
Laser Models integrate laser scan data to provide detailed, high-definition solid “models” of a Digitized Facility. Laser Models are 3D, visually clear and include fine details, unlike “point clouds” whose sparse measurements make it difficult to visualize or understand the facility and may not include fine details. Laser Models are relatively small and do not require a “point server”, so they may be loaded, rotated, and zoomed as needed to view a specific area or an entire facility. Laser Models provide more detailed information for more complete designs.

Photo-realistic Laser Images for Virtual Site Visits
Laser Image of a Facility in PRISM 3D - Virtual Site Visits for Dimensional Extraction
Laser Images are photo-realistic, panoramic images of laser scans from individual laser scanner locations (”scanner-centric”). Because Laser Images are 360-degree images, they may be panned and zoomed like virtual reality programs to view the surrounding area. Laser Images are ideal for “virtual” site visits due to their high resolution.

Powerful Capabilities to Decrease Design Time and Clashes
QuantaCAD capabilities for integrating the Digitized Facility with 3D CAD include

  • Access Laser Models, not “Point Clouds”
  • View Laser Models with CAD models in 3D
  • Work with Multiple Design Software
  • Toolbar for quick access to commands
  • QuickLoad™ Laser Models around CAD models
  • Load Neighboring Laser Models
  • Point, distance and piping measurements
  • Graphical view of laser scan locations
  • Clip and slice to remove obstructions
  • Display CAD models as solid or wireframe
  • Clash Laser Models with CAD models
  • Demolition to hide Laser Models and clashes

Typical Benefits of Integrating the Digitized Facility with 3D CAD
By using QuantaCAD (PDF) to integrate the Digitized Facility with 3D CAD , Quantapoint clients have typically been able to

  • Reduce field trips by 95% - Virtual site visits instead of trips
  • Reduce remodeling time by 85% - Use the Digitized Facility instead of remodeling or as a basis to remodel
  • Decrease design time by 60% - Easier access to information
  • Cut rework from design clashes by 85% - Correct clashes between the Digitized Facility and the new design
